The challenge was to create a brand identity that could reflect both the authentic, grassroots culture of social entrepreneurship in Southern California and the modern, tech-driven aesthetic of a global startup ecosystem. The brand needed to feel experimental and open, while still recognizable and adaptable across different contexts.
Solution
For this project, I approached the brand as an exploration in visual expression rather than a single unified identity. At the founder’s request, I created graphics that were intentionally exploratory, each pushing creative boundaries while still maintaining a throughline of community, collaboration, and growth. To address this, I developed two parallel moodboards and design directions:
Earthy & Authentic – grounded in organic textures, native roots of collaboration, growth, and authenticity.
Tech & Playful – bright colors, rounded corners, conversation bubbles, and clean, scalable systems emphasizing diversity and innovation.
